You Can Have Great Gorilla Safari if You Go to Uganda on a Private Tour

Uganda on a private tour is amazing especially when it gives you the opportunity to go on safari tours such gorilla and chimpanzee trekking.

The country of Uganda is gradually coming out of the shadows and becoming a great holiday and safari destination. As someone so eloquently once said ‘ the rise of tourism in Uganda has polished a glint back into the Pearl of Africa’.

Winston Churchill wrote that Uganda was the ‘Pearl of Africa’ because of its magnificence, variety of colour and form, its profusion of bird, insect, beast and reptile and landscape. It is the truth.

Uganda has a lot to offer tourists such as the crystal clear lakes, snow capped mountains, misty forests and lush green hills and that is before anything is said about the wildlife.

Gorillas trekking is only found in three countries and Uganda is proud to be one of those countries. The remaining half of the world's mountain gorillas live in here.

Top 10 Things to See and Do in Uganda

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
1 Found in the Southwest of Uganda, the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is on the edge of Rift Valley and has the country’s oldest rainforest. The rainforest dates back 25,000 years and is the most diverse biologically. It is in this rainforest where you can take a safari tour and do some gorilla trekking because some 320 mountain gorillas are protected here.  Other animals to see on a safari are chimpanzee, elephants and baboons.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
2 The most popular destination for visitors when they come to Uganda is the Queen Elizabeth National Park in the south-west. Take a Safari tour and see the Mweya Peninsula with leopards roaming it or visit the volcanic crater that is now Lake Katwe. Along the Kazinga Channel, see hippos, buffalo, elephants and also crocodiles floating close to the banks. Chimpanzees are the added attraction on a sightseeing tour of the Kyambura Gorge.
Murchison Falls National Park
3 Northwest of Uganda along Lake Albert is the Murchison Falls National Park. The highlight of this park is the Murchison Falls as the waters from the Victoria Nile River take a steep drop through a narrow gap.  The type of wildlife you may encounter include hippos, elephants or chimpanzee depending on which safari tour you take. Rare Shoebill storks are a huge attraction of Lake Albert Delta and lots of game fish are at the Karuma Falls.
Kibale National Park
4 Probably the best place for chimpanzee trekking safari tours is the Kibale National Park in southern Uganda. It is recorded that some 13 different primate species can be seen in this park along with an abundance of butterflies and birds. While there are lions, buffalo and elephants found here; they are not seen very often. A highlight safari tour is the night walks to where the chimpanzees gather and sleep without disturbing them.
Kidepo Valley National Park
5 The Kidepo Valley National Park may be the most remote of National Parks in Uganda but a safari tour taken in this park will offer sights like no other could. Firstly, it is a birdwatchers paradise because it is home to the rarest birds of East Africa. Another reason to safari here is so that you can see 28 species of mammal that is found in no other Uganda Park such as Cheetah, Klipspringer, Carcal and the Bat-eared Fox.
Lake Victoria
6 Lake Victoria in Southern Uganda which shares borders with Tanzania and Kenya is a stunning and spectacular landmark of Africa that also happens to be Africa’s largest lake. The variation of tours here is numerous. Take a safari tour to one the islands and feed chimpanzees, travel the waters on a safari boat tour watching for the vast wildlife along the shore's edge or do some fishing with more than 200 species of fish.
Kasubi Tombs in Kampala
7 The Kasubi Tombs in Kampala are of great importance to the Buganda kingdom. It is the burial place for their kings and royal family. Originally built as Kabaka Mutesa I’s palace in 1882, it became a tomb after his death two years later. An arson fire destroyed the tombs in 2010 but has been rebuilt to its former glory including the thatched roofed. The homes of the widows of former kings form a circle around the central complex.
Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch
8 The only place to take a rhino trekking safari tour in Uganda is in the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch. These wonderful and laid back animals were once extinct in Uganda because of appealing poaching, but this sanctuary gives the rhino species life and safety. This 70 sq km sanctuary is located near Murchison Falls National Park in the north-west of Uganda and is home to 17 rhinos from the original six that were donated.
Uganda Museum in Kampala
9 Visit the oldest and biggest museum in Uganda on a guided tour. Established in 1908 on Old Kampala Hill it is now found on Kltante Hill. Outside the museum building is the living museum where you get to see, in real life, how life was in Uganda through many eras. The exhibits inside showcases items and information on archaeology, ethnohistory, science and industry, palaeontology and traditional music.
Lake Mburo National Park
10 When you visit Lake Mburo National Park on a safari tour, you may be in the smallest national park of Uganda’s savannah but you are in the most compact and there is still plenty to see and do. On a boat safari on Lake Mburo explore the banks and watch out for buffalo, hippos and crocodiles or just relax and watch the amazing sunset. Horseback safaris are very popular as well as hiking and nature walk tours.
